• Original 400 engine and transmission
* Please note that this car will be available for viewing by prior appointment in Belgium.
The Pontiac GTO laid down the blueprint for every future muscle car and set a performance benchmark that wasn't equalled by its nascent rivals for many years to come. The name GTO was deliberately chosen to reference the Ferrari 250 GTO, which had pretty much won every race going in its day. The GTO became a model in its own right in 1966, with the standard engine providing 335 bhp. In that year alone, Pontiac sold almost 97,000 GTOs and established the model as the go-to muscle car of its day.
Updates for 1966 included a mesh-screen grill, stacked headlights and a wooden dashboard. Options included power windows, power brakes, power steering and air conditioning.
This convertible GTO comes with its factory 400 engine and automatic transmission. It is very original and has even retained all of its badges. There is a significant amount of corrosion in the body and frame, and part of the frame adjacent to a door is missing.
Following its export from New York, it comes with a US Bill of Sale but no title. All duties and taxes have been fully paid.
Please note that this car is not sold with any original registration document.
