Founded in Germany in 1977, Brabus has grown to become the largest tuning firm specialising in Mercedes-Benz products, other than the Mercedes' own AMG subsidiary. This breathtaking example of Brabus's handiwork is based on the mighty Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 4x4, one of the latest and most exclusive members of the long-running G-Class family.
Introduced as long ago as 1979, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class 'Geländewagen' (cross-country vehicle) was the result of a joint venture with Steyr-Daimler-Puch of Austria, a firm with considerable experience in developing four-wheel-drive systems for off-road vehicles. Its purposeful appearance – fundamentally unchanged throughout its life – and engineering excellence has secured the G-Wagen cult status and earned it a reputation as one of the most coveted of classic 4x4s.
For 1991 a revised (Type 463) chassis was introduced, incorporating the very latest in off-road traction technology in the form of three electronically engaged differentials in addition to anti-lock brakes. There have been countless updates to the Type 463 since then and a host of special variants.
One of the final models released before production of the Type 463 ceased in 2018, the G63 was powered by AMG's 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine developing 537bhp, which was delivered to the ground via AMG's Speedshift Plus 7G tronic automatic transmission. Other mechanical upgrades included an AMG sports exhaust system; larger AMG high-performance brakes with six-piston calipers at the front; and revised suspension and damper settings. Boasting high ground clearance and long-travel suspension, the aggressively styled AMG G63 offered greater off-road capability than most customers would ever need in an immensely stylish conveyance with not inconsiderable on-the-road presence. Like the entire model series, the G63 AMG was produced in Graz, primarily in the factory's hand-finishing section.

With 800bhp on tap courtesy of its additional Brabus performance enhancements, this car was purchased by the current vendor in Germany on 6th December 2021 at 4,500 kilometres (the odometer reading at time of cataloguing was 7,957km but in need of a small service). Prospective purchasers should note that this vehicle is currently registered in France with 'garage' plates (VAT needs to be paid). It comes with two keys, a French registration document and four Mercedes-Benz G-Klass books. Handsomely finished in black with matching interior, this imposing 4×4 represents possibly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of these rare and super-exclusive luxury off-roaders.
