Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014, the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé was only the second model, after the SLS, designed entirely in-house by AMG. In appearance the GT looks similar to the SLS, both cars being the creation of lead designer Mark Fetherstone, but has conventional doors rather than its predecessor's gullwing type, thereby lowering the centre of gravity.
Boasting a spaceframe chassis/body of mainly aluminium construction, the GT in its 'entry level' form is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 469bhp, while the AMG Speedshift seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is similarly state-of-the-art. The engine is set well back in the frame and the transmission is housed in rear transaxle, helping to keep the weight distribution at what Mercedes calls an optimum 47/53 percent front-rear split. Developed with input from Mercedes' Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes-AMG GT was chosen to serve as the F1 Safety Car for the 2015 season. Deliveries commenced in March 2015.

Introduced at the same time as the GT was the higher performance GT S, and later in the year a GT3 competition version was announced. Premiered in 2016 for the 2017 model-year were three new variants: the GT Roadster, GT C Coupé and Roadster, and the high-performance GT R Coupé. For the GT R, the M178 engine was tuned to produce 585bhp, an output good enough for a claimed top speed of 318km/h (198mph). While the GT R retains the key mechanical enhancements the GT C gains over the GT S, it also incorporates manually adjustable suspension (in conjunction with the base models' AMG Ride Control); an active under-body fairing; a manually adjustable rear wing; and nine-mode traction control. At the same time various features deemed superfluous in a high-performance variant were deleted.

Externally, the GT R when launched was distinguished by several cosmetic changes that included vertical slats in the front grille, new front air intakes, and new front and rear diffusers, the overall effect making it look like the GT3 race car. The GT R went on sale in November 2016, with deliveries beginning in 2017. The GT R became the official safety car for the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship in 2018
This beautiful Mercedes-AMG GT R was delivered new in France to its first owner on 29th September 2017. Finished in black with matching interior, the latter featuring contrasting yellow stitching and yellow safety belts, the car looks really stunning.

It is extensively optioned, including the desirable AMG ceramic brakes, high-end Burmester surround-sound audio, and numerous carbon parts (the original purchase invoice listing all the options is available).
The car was purchased by the current vendor from the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Rennes, France on 20 November 2020, at which time the odometer reading was 9,930 kilometres. Presented in excellent condition, the GT R is sold with a valid French Contrôle Technique (carried out on 24 July 2023), various Mercedes-Benz service invoices and all its original books.
