c.1960 BSA 125cc Bantam 'Café Racer'
Registration no. Q942 FLD
Frame no. D7 17692
Engine no. BD 4155

Many a now-mature motorcyclist's first two-wheeled experience will have been gained aboard a BSA Bantam, a model that was produced in various forms for over 20 years. Announced in 1948, the Bantam became a top seller for BSA, more than half a million leaving the factory before production ceased in 1971. While larger-engined versions came and went, the original 123cc D1 Bantam in its updated, plunger-suspended form remained available until 1963.

This Bantam's frame number is that of a 172cc D7 model dating from late 1960, while the engine is believed to be a 123cc unit of earlier manufacture. The Bantam has been rebuilt in café racer style, boasting Ace handlebars, rear-set footrests; alloy mudguards; headlamp stone-guard; 'racing' dual seat; and lashings of chrome. The machine carries a tax disc that expired in 1998, which is possibly when it was last ridden; re-commissioning will be required before further use. Sold strictly as viewed.
