The E66 was the fourth generation of BMW's 7 Series and was used by the German carmaker to introduce many novel features, including the iDrive infotainment system, active anti-roll bars, a six-speed automatic transmission, an electronic Smart Key (dispensing with the traditional metallic key), and night vision. It was also the world's first car to use an electric parking brake and the first BMW to feature directional and bi-Xenon (HID) headlights.
The E66 long-wheelbase models, badged "Li" were introduced in June 2002 and are 140 mm (5.5 in) longer than the standard saloon, allowing for extra rear legroom.
The BMW 745 Li offered here has covered a mere 17,173 miles from new (an average of 894 miles annually). The vehicle was owned from new by Sultan Qaboos of Oman as part of his vast vehicle collection in London. It was first registered in September 2002 and has a fully documented service history. The BMW has been kept in a heated garage since new, it has had little use yet has always been fully serviced annually and maintained regardless of cost. This is reflected in its immaculate condition. Supplied with its two remote key fobs, it starts, runs and drives very well.
