Footnotes
Modelled on the original MG TF of the 1950s, the Naylor was considered one of the most attractive of the many MG-inspired replicas. The chassis was steel box section like that of the original but the suspension was updated, featuring coil springs over telescopic dampers with multi-link location and a Panhard rod at the rear. Hand built by craftsmen in the traditional manner, the body was constructed of steel panels on an ash framework and featured forward hinged doors to satisfy modern safety requirements. The engine used was Austin-Rover's 1.7-litre, O-Series, overhead-camshaft unit. One hundred fully type-approved Naylors were produced between 1985 and 1986 when the firm was acquired by the Hutson Motor Company, following which a further 61 cars were made.
This right-hand drive example is an original, factory-built car sold new by Naylor to Durlings Garage, Sevenoaks, Kent in March 1986 for the sum of £14,858.75 (see bill of sale on file). The accompanying logbook states that there have been six former keepers, the last immediately prior to the current vendor being a Mr Standring, also of Sevenoaks. In the current owner's possession since the summer of 2007, 'UKP 44' has covered a little under 7,800 miles from new and is described as in generally excellent condition. The car is finished in Old English White with red leather interior and comes complete with MoT to 1st June 2010, Swansea V5C registration document and numerous expired MoTs and old tax discs dating back to the late 1980s.
