1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible Sedan
Chassis no. 8345326

Styled under the direction of Cadillac chief designer and Harley Earl protégé Bill Mitchell, the bold and fresh 1941 Cadillacs would enjoy record sales. The smoothly sculpted cars sparkled with chrome accents that artfully enhanced their flowing lines. The grid motif of their new horizontal grille remains even today a signature Cadillac design attribute.

The 1941 Cadillac was one of the most modern cars of its time. Standard features included sealed beam headlamps, 15-inch wheels and fore-and-aft turn signals. Lifting the massive and beautifully sculpted flying goddess hood ornament unlatched the hood. The left tail lamp housing flipped up to reveal the fuel filler cap—a placement that would mystify gas station attendants for years to come.

A powerful 150-hp L-head V8 was standard in 1941 Cadillacs. It was offered with a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, a new Cadillac option for 1941, or a standard 3-speed manual. First offered in the 1940 Oldsmobile, the GM 4-speed Hydra-Matic would be used in tanks during World War II, before going on to bring automatic-transmission convenience to millions of appreciative post-war car owners. Approximately three out of every ten 1941 Cadillacs were equipped with the $125 Hydra-Matic option.

Presented here is a 1941 Series 62 Convertible Sedan, an example of the only 4-door open Cadillac offered that year. Just 400 were built and they would be the last production Cadillac 4-door convertibles ever.

An especially deluxe interior, trimmed by Fleetwood artisans, was standard in the 1941 Cadillac Convertible Sedan. Stylishly detailed leather seats added to the richness while the completely new Art Moderne instrument panel delighted drivers and passengers alike.
The Convertible Sedan was just as appealing top up as top down. Posts between side windows were designed for easy removal and the folded top rested in a deep well —allowing for a very sleek open appearance.

This Series 62 Convertible Sedan, offered without reserve, is finished in a correct shade of gray, while the interior is done in burgundy leather. A thorough restoration was reportedly completed in 2007. Maintenance records will be provided with the car.
