Footnotes
At Daytona Beach, on 5 February 1931, Malcolm Campbell raised the World Land Speed Record to 245.73 mph, beating the mark of 231.36 mph made by Sir Henry Segrave at Daytona Beach nearly two years earlier. In February 1932 Campbell returned with a modified Bluebird and beat his own record, achieving a new World Land Speed Record of 253.96 mph. He returned to Daytona a further two times and raised his own record to 276.71 mph in March 1935, which was the last World Land Speed Record set on a beach. In total from 1905 to 1935, nine AIACR recognised World Land Speed Records were set at Daytona Beach, leading to the unquestioned claim that it is the World's Fastest Beach!
